Infrastructure program management expert John Lynch joins HNTB

Recognized leader for managing billion-dollar programs with reputation for technical excellence

NEW YORK (May 16, 2018) – John Lynch, PE, PMP, joined HNTB Corporation as senior project manager and associate vice president, based in the firm’s Empire State Building office. Lynch is deputy project manager for design and construction of the Phase 2 Long Island Rail Road Jamaica capacity improvements program, and he provides program and construction management services for other regional transit agencies.

“John is recognized for his leadership and experience in the delivery of large, complex transportation projects,” said Stephen Dilts, HNTB New York office leader and senior vice president. “His extensive program management knowledge is highly valued by transportation agencies, and he is a valuable addition to the HNTB team.”

Lynch brings 28 years of professional experience, including more than 20 years in project management and delivery. Most recently, he served as senior program manager in the office of the chief engineer for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In that role, he managed the $2.6 billion Terminal A redevelopment at Newark Liberty International Airport, a combination of design-build and traditional design-bid-build procurements. Lynch also served senior engineer of projects for a broad-based $2 billion program to remediate impacts of Superstorm Sandy at PANYNJ facilities and as senior project manager for the $1.2 billion expansion of Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. He also played a key role in the reconstruction of the World Trade Center transit hub, among other projects.

Lynch holds a Master of Business Administration from Hofstra University as well as a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Columbia University. A professional engineer in New York and certified project management professional by the Project Management Institute, he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and he served as a board director and treasurer of the ASCE’s metropolitan New York City section.
