Matthew D’Angelo joins HNTB in Massachusetts
Recognized project management professional leads design and construction for bridge and highway projects
BOSTON (May 30, 2018) – Matthew D’Angelo, PE, joined HNTB Corporation as a senior project manager and structures department manager for the firm in Massachusetts. Based in Boston, D’Angelo brings more than 15 years of experience in bridge design, construction and project management, including traditional and accelerated bridge construction techniques with state and local transportation agencies throughout New England.
At HNTB, D’Angelo leads the structures department, which provides engineering through all phases of project development, design and construction of bridges, highways and railways.

D’Angelo previously served as deputy project manager and structural project lead for the design-build replacement of twin, two-span bridges on I-95 at Route 2 in Lexington, Massachusetts, that involved the state’s first use of precast concrete modular abutments to accelerate construction. He also was project manager and led structural and highway design services associated with the reconstruction of the VFW highway over Beaver Brook in the City of Lowell. Additionally, D’Angelo served in various roles, including project manager, project engineer and structural design engineer, for other key infrastructure projects, including the I-90 Connector Tunnels in Boston as well as an accelerated replacement of a Fitchburg Mainline bridge over Route 62 in Concord for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
A graduate of Villanova University with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering, D’Angelo is a professional engineer in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers. D’Angelo also volunteers as an alumni mentor for Villanova University’s career compass program, providing professional development for engineering students, and is an associate member of the North Reading, MA, Zoning Board of Appeals.
