HNTB is the GEC responsible for upgrading and reconstructing more than 50 miles of the I-405/SR 167 highway corridor, one of Washington’s most congested highway corridors. Our work includes developing and implementing the environmental documentation and compliance strategies for more than eight projects. Our team develops documentation in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), and obtain various required federal, state, and local permits. As part of our work, HNTB conducts all field work to identify wetlands, sensitive areas, and fish habitat, and we work closely with engineers to develop fish passage designs that improve habitat for fish. We also develop environmental commitments and contracting requirements for design-build contracts.
