Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport wanted to modernize their world-class airport while fulfilling significant requirements for new infrastructure as the fifth busiest airport in the world. HNTB has served the airport as their facilities program and construction manager. This relationship has helped the airport accomplish a diverse range of projects.

These property-wide projects utilized innovative technologies and approaches including reducing touchpoints to improve health safety and even implementing pre-fabricated construction. Some of the projects completed at DFW Airport as a part of this partnership are:

High C Gates Demolition and Reconstruction
A first in the US, this project included six prefabricated modules transported 1.5 miles over a three-week period. With metal panels and glazing, the modules form the 80,000-square-foot concourse. This method proved to be 22% faster than traditional stick built.

A29 Bathroom Renovation
A property-wide bathroom renovation to implement Holistic Airside Restroom Design Guidelines, reduce touchpoints and improve safety.

Integrated Operations Center
A 40,000 square-foot new building built with hardened steel to withstand the most severe weather conditions due to its critical operation.

Terminal D South Expansion
A new 150,000 square-foot concourse built to connect two existing terminals and accommodate the needs international travel, including a variety of aircraft sizes and a US Customs corridor.
