HNTB names Tom Hutchinson as Tennessee office leader

20-year transportation industry expert to continue growth in Southeast

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 22, 2024) – HNTB has announced Tom Hutchinson, vice president, as its Tennessee office leader. Hutchinson has been with the firm for nearly 17 years and most recently served as office sales director and project director for the Atlanta office.

As office leader, Hutchinson will be responsible for managing HNTB’s operations in Tennessee, including overseeing project delivery, client relations, business development and employee development.

“Tom has been instrumental in delivering outstanding infrastructure solutions to our clients in the Southeast,” said Doug Allen, HNTB’s Southeast Division president. “His deep experience in the transportation sector and holistic understanding of the project lifestyle has been pivotal in the firm’s growth in this market and our ability to meet the needs of our clients in the region.”

Throughout his career, Hutchinson has worked with various federal and state transportation agencies, local governments and regional mobility authorities. He has been a leader in several significant projects and initiatives in Tennessee and Georgia, including the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s I-24 Southeast Choice Lanes project, the Georgia Department of Transportation’s alternative delivery program and GDOT’s Metro Atlanta Express Lane Network, among many others.

“I’ve always had a passion for the transportation industry – from the projects to the people – I enjoy finding ways to help clients innovate in this field and create infrastructure that can serve this generation and the next,” said Hutchinson. “We have a great team in our Tennessee office, and I look forward to the exciting work we will accomplish for clients.”

Hutchinson is active in industry organizations, including IBTTA and AASHTO. He recently served as chairman for the Tolling and Emerging Payment Technologies working group for the OmniAir Consortium. He received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and Master of Science in transportation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
