Hartford Business Journal honors HNTB for fostering a highly engaged and inclusive workplace
HARTFORD, Conn. (March 14, 2025) – HNTB’s Connecticut office has once again been honored as one of the Hartford Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work in Connecticut.” This marks the second consecutive year HNTB has earned the distinction, a testament to the firm’s dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive and dynamic environment. The firm was ranked No. 1 in the large company category.
The award is based on a comprehensive evaluation process that includes detailed employee survey responses and an analysis of organizational practices. Key areas assessed include benefits, workplace culture, employee engagement and leadership strategies.
“Our recognition as a best place to work is a testament to the incredible team we have here at HNTB,” said Jacob Argiro, PE, HNTB’s Connecticut office leader and vice president. “We are committed to fostering an environment where our employee-owners feel supported, empowered and inspired to excel. By prioritizing professional development and encouraging innovation, we not only deliver exceptional results for our clients but also create a workplace culture where people thrive.”
Over the past year, HNTB’s Connecticut office has achieved significant growth, expanding its workforce by more than 50%. The firm has been instrumental in delivering key infrastructure projects, including the Gold Star Memorial Bridge, the Norwalk River Railroad (WALK) Bridge Replacement Project and the Downtown Crossing New Haven Initiative. Recently, HNTB was selected to provide design services for the Connecticut Department of Transportation on the TIME 4 project. TIME, which stands for Track Improvement Mobility Enhancement, is a multi-year program that intends to reduce travel time on the rail line connecting New Haven, Connecticut to Grand Central Station in New York City. The TIME 4 project is a 5-mile stretch of that program that includes design of the “SAGA” Bridge, a movable bridge, over the Saugatuck River in Westport, Connecticut.
The firm also has grown its construction services group in Connecticut to accommodate the growing transportation infrastructure demand in the region. Last summer, the Connecticut office celebrated an open house for its newly expanded office and already expects to add more office space again later this year to accommodate additional employees.
