Involved in nearly every Florida express lane project, including the successful 95 Express Lanes, HNTB is helping the Florida Department of Transportation advance its concept of regional express lane networks.
Working in a range of roles from initial planning through construction, HNTB also helped FDOT create two policy documents that serve as the platform for the regional concept: a statewide managed lane implementation plan and a regional concept for transportation operations.
Facilitating a planning meeting that included the Federal Highway Administration, FDOT Central Office, FDOT Districts 6 and 4, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, HNTB helped all stakeholders identify and agree on a common vision of success, networking operating policies and procedures.
Within the next decade, Florida will have 186 centerline miles of express lane networks, offering motorists a choice of a reliable trip at highway speeds.
