The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) is committed to improving statewide mobility and a connected transportation network through its Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP). Established in 2016, the ambitious program is the first of its kind in the country and was created to improve quality of life and build a better Georgia by creating additional capacity, improving freight movement, providing operational improvements and efficiencies, enhancing safety, and offering more reliable trip times.
HNTB was entrusted with facilitating Georgia DOT’s data management and geoanalytics for this MMIP program through a wide range of applications. Utilizing drone technology to aid in client data management, HNTB harnessed the power of drone technology to gather and document construction progress, along with offering environmental assessments through 4K video and aerial photography. The firm also delivered supplemental content to Georgia DOT, supporting endeavors such as dam construction tracking, social media content, bridge replacements, right-of-way boundaries, planning alignments, detailed topography, and environmental/drainage features.
