A facility to inspire greatness, the University of Illinois’ newly renovated Richard T. Ubben Basketball Complex is redefining the student-athlete experience.
Providing master planning, design, and construction support services, HNTB has partnered with the university to remodel more than 40,000 square feet of the existing facility, while also approximately adding another 40,000.
The complex’s improvements include:
- Additional court space
- State-of-the-art sports medicine facilities
- An enhanced strength and conditioning area
- Study spaces
- Expanded staff offices
- Modern student-athlete amenities
- New locker rooms and team areas
The new locker rooms and player lounges will be tripled in size, and the additional court space is comprised of two new half courts in both the men and women’s current gym spaces. Other details of the design include a glass enclosure for the strength and conditioning area and a new atrium lobby space to host recruits and small groups.
Overall, at more than 80,000 square feet, the newly renovated and expanded, state-of-the-art facility provides athletes with world-class amenities to help optimize their training and recovery.
